Calling all Graduate Students – paid internship opportunities are available

We are opening up two new “Associate” positions at PEN/Faulkner, which will function as paid, part time internships. 

Read below for information on our two open internships, starting in September, 2016. Candidates interested in either Program Associate or Outreach Associate positions should send a cover letter and resume to applications@penfaulkner.  All applications are due by Monday, August 15th, 2016.

PROGRAM ASSOCIATE

PEN/Faulkner seeks a part-time Program Associate. The PEN/Faulkner Foundation is a literary non-profit that seeks to build audiences for literature in order to foster a literate and creative society. The Program Associate will handle logistics in support of our 15+ public events during the 2016/2017 season.
The Program Associate is a 9-month position that will start in September 2016 and run through May 2017. The position will start at 10 hours per week, and the associate will have the flexibility to design his or her own schedule.

 Representative duties of the Program Associate include:

  • Author outreach, travel planning & scheduling for public events
  • Coordination with program partners and vendors
  • Relationship managements with audiences 
  • Basic evaluation & data management associated with public events 

Applicants should have:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Basic Excel & Google Doc skills
  • A way with words
  • Adaptability & a sense of humor 
  • A passion for literature 
  • Design experience is a plus

OUTREACH ASSOCIATE

PEN/Faulkner seeks a part-time Outreach Associate. The PEN/Faulkner Foundation is a literary non-profit that seeks to build audiences for literature in order to foster a literate and creative society. The Outreach Associate will handle audience outreach & development in support of our 15+ public events during the 2016/2017 season.

The Outreach Associate is a 9-month position that will start in September 2016 and run through May 2017. The position will start at 10 hours per week, and the associate will have the flexibility to design his or her own schedule. 

 Representative duties of the Outreach Associate include:

  • Creation of digital outreach materials
  • Marketing research & execution 
  • Audience outreach & surveying
  • Basic evaluation & data management associated with public events 

Applicants should have:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience using design software
  • A way with words
  • Adaptability & a sense of humor 
  • A passion for literature
