Reading SeriesEach year PEN/Faulkner brings beloved and emerging American writers to read at the Folger Shakespeare Library for Washington DC’s premiere Reading Series. Meet old friends, make new ones, and find out how and why they write, while you enjoy food, drink, and the ambience of the Folger Shakespeare Library’s Great Hall at our post—reading receptions. Your generous donation helps the foundation bring writers from all over the country to read for PEN/Faulkner and to offer significant program discounts to students. |

Writers in SchoolsPEN/Faulkner’s Writers in Schools program brings into public school classrooms over 75 authors a year who, in the spirit of Faulkner’s philanthropy, donate their time to the program. PEN/Faulkner provides each student with a copy of the writer’s book—the only new book many students receive in a given year—and assists teachers with instructional materials. Author visits are immediate, personal encounters between living writers and students that demonstrate to everyone the transforming power of the arts in education. Your support for this wonderful program will help keep literature and literary philanthropy alive. |
