PEN/Faulkner Fall Internship

The PEN/Faulkner fall internship program is now open. We are currently seeking two interns to assist with the 2017-18 PEN/Faulkner Reading Series, the Writers in Schools program, and the annual Award for Fiction. Each intern is expected to commit about 15-20 hours per week during the fall season. The hours are flexible and the environment fun. Our office is conveniently located in the old Wonder Bread WeWork building near the Howard/Shaw Metro station.

Responsibilities include:
§ Research on contemporary authors for upcoming literary events
§ Content generation for multiple social media platforms
§ Basic graphic design for both print and online materials
§ Organization and categorization of PEN/Faulkner archival materials
§ Development research, to include identifying potential underwriters for public events
§ General copywriting & administrative tasks

Necessary skills include:
§ Excellent writing and editing skills
§ Excellent organizational skills
§ An interest in marketing and communications
§ Ability and drive to work independently and as part of a team
§ A passion for literature
§ A good sense of humor
