Literary London

As a PEN/Faulkner supporter, you are hereby invited to join us on an exclusive, insider adventure into London’s literary culture, from its present-day great authors to its deep artistic history.

Sip martinis (shaken, not stirred) at DUKES Bar
Shop for antiquarian and second-hand books along London’s renowned Charing Cross Road, then enjoy a visit to Foyle’s, the world’s largest bookstore
Celebrate William Shakespeares birthday with a show at The Royal Court
Enjoy a private “Treasures Tour” of the world’s most beautiful and significant books, like the Magna Carta and the Gutenberg Bible, at the British Library
Visit literary locales made famous by Virginia Woolf, William Butler Yeats, J.M. Barrie, and T.S. Eliot on a guided tour of the Bloomsbury Garden Squares
Join your traveling companions on visits to the legendary Charles Dickens Museum and the John Keats House
Commune with Dickens, Darwin, Behn, Auden, Austen, Byron, Longfellow, and many others by visiting their graves and memorials at Westminster Abbey

As part of our Literary adventure, we’ll be meeting for private gatherings with authors Ken Follett (Edge of Eternity, Eye of the Needle, World Without End), Deborah Moggach (The Carer, Tulip Fever, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Nick Harkaway (Angelmaker, Tigerman, Gnomon), and Sebastian Faulks (Paris Echo, Charlotte Gray, The Girl at the Lion d’Or).

In advance of the trip, we will send you one copy of each author’s latest book so that you can read up and (when we’re in London) collect signatures. We’ll also share a reading list for the historic literary figures we’ll be learning about.

Frequented by international celebrities, the Covent Garden Hotel offers an elegant daily breakfast and access to Tiffany’s Library, a private lounge in which we can gather nightly to sip cocktails and digest the day’s adventures.
